A new federal report highlights the different ways men and women use marijuana. Smoking is still the most common method overall, but it’s much more popular among men. About 19.8% of male cannabis users aged 12 and up said smoking was their go-to method, compared to 14.3% of female users.

Women, on the other hand, are more likely than men to use cannabis in other forms—especially edibles, drinks, and topicals like lotions, creams, and patches. For example, 2.5% of women said they prefer topicals, while only 1.2% of men chose that option.
